a common theme that I discovered running through both my poems and my paintings is the physical and mental responses to trauma. how do we see things in our bodies that we cannot feel? how can we feel things that we cannot see? when do physical sensations cease to be physical and come to live in the confines of our imaginations?
while many of these ideas are internalized and individualized, they are influenced by outside perspectives as well. what are others able to project onto our bodies? how do society's metaphors manifest themselves in the body? and how can our bodies help us to understand the outside world?
